Pet sitting has become another option in pet care in recent years as people seek out convenient ways to care for pets while they’re away on trips or vacations. While we acknowledge our bias towards supervised kennel care versus pet sitting, we think it our responsibility to “speak on behalf” of pets in general, and on your dog or cat in particular, so that you can make an informed decision on their care.
A “sitter” is in your home for a relatively short period of time, and therefore your pet usually receives very little human interaction or supervision while you are away. The absence of your daily routine of coming, going, feeding, maybe medicating, and playing with your pet, in particular your dog, is a routine to which they have become accustomed. A sitter’s visit, usually measured in minutes, can bring some life and excitement to his charge for a while, but that minimal monitoring soon ends, and ”your kids” then have to fend for themselves for another 24 hours or so. Potentially dangerous, and certainly lonely, and it goes without saying that just as there is relatively little supervision for your pets, there is also no supervision for the sitter.
Supervision, attention and excitement are obviously less of an issue at West Valley Pet Lodge. Having animal care professionals on hand virtually around the clock means that “your kids” get the benefit of the one-on-one interaction to which they are accustomed, from our staff, as well as from their kennel neighbors.
Their “home routine” becomes their “vacation routine” with proper care and busy activity at their licensed, professional care kennel home. Don’t be surprised if they look forward to their next vacation!
